DRESS CODE
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to our NEW dance year at Arizona Coast Performing Arts Dance Studio! We are looking forward to this opportunity to share our knowledge, and the joy of the art of dance. Our philosophy is to encourage each student's creativity and individuality while instilling a positive work ethic practicing responsibility, discipline, persistence and enthusiasm. We have a dress code for all classes and a basic ballet uniform for all levels. Dance attire will prepare the students mentally and physically for class and allow instructors to see body lines and posture to enable corrections. Please have the required attire by the first week of September for all dance classes. It is recommended that all dancers have a dance bag that holds all dance clothing, shoes, hair supplies and a water bottle. Since items may be left behind, please have labels with student's names or initials in all dance wear, shoes and water bottles.
Hair MUST be up and away from the dancer’s face in a neat ballet bun for all ballet classes. For all other classes, hair must be in a ponytail or braid which allows the eyes to have a clear view of others in the room, ensuring safety for all. Short hair must be kept off the face by a headband or barrettes. Distracting jewelry is not permitted in class. Students are asked to bring a water bottle to class, with ONLY water. No food or gum will be permitted in the dance room. To maintain respect for other dancers and instructors, all students are required to come to class on time and prepared for all classes. We greatly appreciate your cooperation and compliance. Please leave bags and street shoes in cubbies, you may bring your water bottle inside with you. With the exception of pointe dancers bringing in their pointe shoe bag and Pre Ballet/Tap since they change shoes in class.
DRESS CODE DETAILS:
Pre Ballet and Tap- For class, girls may wear any pastel or black ballet attire, pink ballet shoes, with elastic no draw strings & black tap shoes preferably velcro for or elastic sides, Boys may wear black athletic pants/shorts or sweatpants, any light colored t-shirts, black ballet shoes & black tap shoes.
Ballet 1&2- Any style pastel leotard or black leotard, ballet pink tights and pink ballet shoes. (Simple ballet skirts are permitted no tutus.) Pink ballet shoes with split soles and no draw string are best. Hair in neat secure bun. Boys may wear black athletic pants/shorts or sweatpants, any light colored t-shirts, black ballet shoes.
Ballet 3 & 4- Any shade of green, teal or black leotard, ballet pink tights and pink ballet shoes. (Simple ballet skirts are permitted but may be asked to remove to see proper alignment.) Boys may wear black athletic pants/shorts, any plain white, black, shade of green or teal t-shirt (no logos please) and black ballet shoes. Boys hair must be off of face.
Ballet 5- Any shade of red or Burgundy or black leotard, ballet pink tights and pink ballet shoes. (Simple short ballet skirts are permitted but may be asked to be removed to see proper alignment.). Boys may wear black athletic pants/shorts, any plain white, black, shade of Red or Maroon, t-shirt (no logos) and black ballet shoes. Boys hair must be off of face.
Ballet 6- Black leotards preferred or any shade of purple, ballet pink tights and pink ballet shoes. (Simple ballet skirts are permitted but may be asked to be removed to see proper alignment.) Boys may wear black athletic pants/shorts, any plain white or black, t-shirt (no logos) and black ballet shoes. Boys hair must be off of face.
All other Styles:
Contemporary- Girls: Any leotard, secure tank top or sports bra, tights or leggings, bare feet or dance paws. Boys: Any workout wear (preferably fitted, bare feet or dance paws hair off of face, ponytail or braid.

Jazz- Girls: Any leotard, secure tank top or sports bra, tights, leggings or jazz pants and black or tan jazz shoes. Boys: Any workout wear (preferably fitted) and black jazz shoes. Hair off of face, ponytail or braid. Tap- Any appropriate dance wear. Tap shoes are required for tap class. Hair off of face, ponytail or braid.

Hip Hop/Musical Theatre- Any appropriate dance wear or active wear. Jazz shoes, jazz sneakers or athletic sneakers. Hair off of face, ponytail or braid.
